All the World’s a Stage provides insight on what parents of 4-16-year-olds understand about live streaming and vlogging.

It further explores the opportunities and potential risks to children online and offers resources to help children have safer experiences while sharing online.

What’s inside the report?

 

Introduction
  • Internet Matters CEO Carolyn Bunting shares a short introduction of our findings and our partner and sponsor Huawei highlights the importance of the research in equipping parents with the tools they need to empower children to make safer choices online.
Vlogging and live streaming behaviours
  • An outline of what children are doing, where and why based on research with parents and children.
Positive experiences
  • A summary of the benefits that live streaming and vlogging can offer children in terms of their development and confidence.
Risks, concerns and negative experiences
  • A summary of parents concerns about vlogs and live streams and the potential risks that children can be exposed to whilst watching or actively live streaming.
Resources
  • As a response to the research, we created live streaming and vlogging resources to help parents understand what these were and how to help their children do them safely and minimise risks to online harms.
