What we are doing together
Sky and NowTV continue to invest in our organisation, both supporting our campaigns and showcasing our resources across their own channels including website, TV and print advertising and product packaging to help raise awareness of online safety across their customer base.
Offering advice at the right time
They included our resources at a 3 day onsite Code Camp for kids over half term, a great way to get kids introduced to tech for parents in the workforce at Sky and NowTV. We also collaborated together to create a joint guidebook with Mumsnet on the dangers of digital piracy for parents – offering our resources at key touchpoints for free.
Empowering people with hands-on support
Sky continues to invest in its award-winning safety products. Sky Broadband Shield is offered free to all of their customers and is applied by default meaning the greatest possible number of customers are protected.
Utilising controls and tech tools
They have continued to invest in their Sky Kids app, offering family-friendly viewing in a safe environment. By applying safety by design principles, the app’s features include individual user profiles and a bedtime setting.
Why support Internet Matters
Whilst the internet offers great opportunities, risks of online harm will always be present. That’s why Sky helped set up Internet Matters and have recently commissioned a report “Keeping Consumers Safe Online” that set out how the Government could create an accountability framework to ensure proper oversight.
The Government has set out how it will release a White Paper detailing proposals for online safety legislation. This is a great opportunity to help ensure the UK is the safest place for children to be online.
